Pilot Michelle Coombes

My name is Michelle Coombes. I am 37 years old and got my passion for aviation from my father whom loved aeroplanes.  I grew up in Pretoria and was fortunate to be selected to join the South African Air Force in 1997. I completed pilot’s course in 1999 on the Pilatus Astra and then joined the transport line flying Cessna 185, Cessna Caravan, Casa 212 and ended my SAAF career at 21 Squadron flying the Cessna Citation, Boeing 737 BBJ and Falcon 50.  I was then afforded the opportunity to join South African Airways in 2004 flying the Airbus A340 and currently I am a Senior First Officer on the Airbus A320. I have accumulated 7600 hours to date.  I am passionate about aviation as well as children and this initiative is an opportunity for me to bring the two together.
