Major Zayd Peer 85 Combat Flying School Born and schooled in the South Coast. I used to spend all my free time in Merebank in Durban overlooking the airport. Seeing the Mirages flying out with a thunderous noise sparked my interest in aviation from preschool. I was one of the lucky candidates to be selected for pilots course. My dream of becoming a South African Air Force aviator had just started. After achieving my wings, I did a two year stint flying Cessna 185’s. I then had the opportunity to become an instructor and spent six wonderful years in the fair Cape. I then moved to AFB Makhado in Limpopo where I have been stationed for the last 5 years. I am currently flying the BAe Hawk MK120. I am a Flight Leader at the unit.

This initiative is a superb opportunity to nurture and develop a passion for aviation. The SAAF, through various other programs is at the forefront of bringing aviation to the doorstep of children as the children are the future.
